September is fast approaching, and it's time for another monthly refresh of the titles available on Xbox Game Pass. Name aside, Xbox Game Pass is a subscription service available to players on PC, Xbox, and other devices capable of online game streaming. It includes hundreds of titles, ranging from Xbox classics to brand-new releases, and its library keeps growing with a handful of fresh titles added each month.
But some titles inevitably end up leaving Game Pass to make room for all those new releases. Still, there's a net gain in the number of titles available so far, with only two confirmed to be leaving the service so far. Without further ado, and with all the information available at the time of writing, here's everything players can expect from Game Pass in September 2024.

Every Game Coming To Xbox Game Pass In September 2024
Frostpunk 2, Age Of Mythology, Ara, & More
Title | Platform(s) | Release Date |
---|---|---|
Star Trucker | PC, Xbox | September 3 |
Age of Mythology: Retold | PC, Xbox | September 4 |
Train Sim World 5 | PC, Xbox | September 17 |
Frostpunk 2 | PC, Xbox | September 20 |
Ara: History Untold | PC | September 24 |
On Game Pass, September 2024 is a heavy month for strategy games and vehicular sims. To start with strategy, Game Pass subscribers can expect day-one access to three major releases this September, beginning with Age of Mythology: Retold on September 4. This is a remake of the original Age of Mythology, itself a spinoff of the Age of Wonders strategy franchise. But where Age of Wonders is somewhat grounded in real history, Age of Mythology puts players in a god's position, allowing them to call upon mythical creatures and natural disasters to protect their people and smite their enemies.
Age of Mythology will be followed by Frostpunk 2 on September 20. This is likely the most anticipated Game Pass release this month, a sequel to the original Frostpunk, a city builder set in a bleak, frozen-over world. Blending the best elements of strategy and survival, Frostpunk is a unique game that builds on the many success stories to come out of both genres - and now, it proves inspiration in its own right for the upcoming sequel.

The last strategy game confirmed for Game Pass this September is Ara: History Untold, to be released on September 24. Ara has often been compared to the Civilization series, and is under development by former Firaxis employees. It allows players to select from a roster of world leaders with different abilities, and develop their societies via destruction or diplomacy in an alternate history spanning multiple centuries.
Ara is currently exclusive to PC, and will not be available to Game Pass subscribers on Xbox consoles at launch.
As for vehicle sims, Game Pass is getting two this month: Star Trucker on September 3, and Train Sim World 5 on September 17. Train Sim World 5 is the latest in a long line of similar games, featuring over 100 different train routes and locomotives for players to conduct. Star Trucker has a bit of a unique twist: though it plays similarly to any other truck sim, it's set entirely in an Americana-tinged vision of outer space.
Every Game Leaving Game Pass In September 2024
Atomic Heart, Guilty Gear, & More?
Title | Platform(s) | Date Leaving |
---|---|---|
Atomic Heart | PC, Xbox | September 1 |
Guilty Gear Strive | PC, Xbox | September 1 |
Only two games have been confirmed to be leaving Game Pass in September 2024 at the time of writing: post-Soviet dystopian shooter Atomic Heart, and Arc System Works fighter Guilty Gear Strive. Both are slated for removal from Game Pass on September 1, so interested players have a limited amount of time to complete as much of these games as possible. However, as per usual, Game Pass subscribers can purchase departing games at a 20% discount, and keep them in their libraries for good.
Although rumors abound of a huge month for Game Pass, with 17 titles coming to the service this September, only five have thus far been officially been confirmed. Other games may be announced for departure later in the month, but Game Pass generally gives players a short grace period in case they want to finish their save files or purchase the games at their discounted rates. For now, this is everything players can expect from Xbox Game Pass in September 2024.
